ByteDance has begun rolling out its new AI audio and video generation model, Dreamina Seedance 2.0, inside its popular editing app CapCut, marking one of the most aggressive pushes yet to bring high-end generative video tools directly to everyday creators.
OpenAI’s decision to wind down its Sora video app appears to have created an opening that ByteDance is keen to occupy with Dreamina Seedance 2.0. The company confirmed that the advanced model is now being integrated into CapCut, its multi-platform video editing suite that already serves millions of short‑form creators worldwide.
According to ByteDance, Dreamina Seedance 2.0 lets users “draft, edit, and sync video and audio content” using natural language prompts, images, and even reference video clips, compressing much of the traditional production workflow into a single AI-assisted pipeline. The company is positioning the model as a way for creators to move from idea to near-finished clip without needing professional cameras, actors, or studios.
Rather than a global launch on day one, ByteDance is opting for a phased rollout inside CapCut. The company said the new model will first reach users in Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, with additional markets to be added “over time.”
The cautious approach follows earlier reports that ByteDance had paused a broader global release of Seedance 2.0 over copyright concerns raised by Hollywood and other rights holders.
